It' sometimes difficult to know what "good" looks like, unless you've taken the time to define it. I think this not only applies to setting expectations, but it may also be good to get a team to realize that they are actually doing well when they are in the middle of a complicated project or initiative, as it's not always easy to realize things are actually moving in a positive direction. In my work, I usually let the groups decide their own groundrules and let them enforce them. It is their environment and their outcomes.
